Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is renowned for her performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano was awarded an Oscar. At a young age, the accomplished actress began performing on stage in a number of Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. When she was a kid, Helen Keller was her favourite character in a fifth class production. As a result of having mumps, she went blind on the other side of her ears. This did not stop her ambition to be an actress. She was a drama major at the college, and then moved between Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dream. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated to make Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. She landed one as an actress supporting the leading character Swing Shift. Since then, she has appeared in a number of movies, television shows and films over the course of a 30-year career. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actor as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
