Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer is known for her acclaimed roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes and awards, among them an Oscar for her movie Piano. She began her career as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. As a child, Helen Keller was her favorite character in a 5th grade production. Mumps made her lose hearing in one of her ears, but this didn't stop the actress from following her dreams. The college she attended was drama after which she moved from Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her goals. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and the pair collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. The role she was offered came as an actress who played the leading character Swing Shift. Since then, she has appeared in numerous films, TV series and movies over the course of a 30-year career. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity and she has won Women in Film Lucy Award.
